Review of the Hitachi CJ110MV jigsaw

The Hitachi CJ110MV is a formidable competitor in it’s class of jigsaw. I’ve used several other brands and consider this jigsaw to be superior for several reasons.

This model is extremely light weight and maneuverable making it a snap to cut a small radius or complex pattern. The light and unobtrusive body is, of course, stylish and pleasing to your more pretentious inclinations, but it also makes this jigsaw ideal for operating on a work surface with limited space. I have had to endure this myself while on several trim jobs where our work area (usually the garage of the unit we’re working on) becomes cluttered with miter saws, planers, and other cutting stations. The CJ2220MV preformed spectacularly cutting in tight spaces.

In such conditions lighting can be a terrible problem but this jigsaw comes with built-in LED light that is powerful enough to illuminate the cut area to my needs. I really laughed at the idea of a built-in light at first, thinking that such a “convenience “ is unnecessary, but the light on this saw has become something that I sorely miss when having to use a co-workers jigsaw while mine is not at hand.

The dust blower is another feature I have found to be invaluable. It is actually quite powerful and provides sufficient airflow to keep the cutting area clean and visible. Again I praise this saw while fighting the virile, manly urge to shun such enfeebling conveniences. But a few modern innovations make this sometimes intolerable job easier to endure.

This model is equipped with a stout 5.8 amp motor that virtually growls when I pull the trigger. The four-stage orbital action allow it to rip through anything you put in front of it. (Fingers beware!) You would think that this increases the vibration, leading to a sore wrist after prolonged use. But it is relatively calm and add to that the soft vibration reducing grip and you have a really comfortable cutting experience.

The tool less blade changing configuration is easily accessible and functions perfectly, facilitating effortless, quick changes. It’s located on the front of the saw and takes literally a matter of seconds to operate.

It has a variable speed control located on front of the grip. Turn it up and pull the trigger and this saw will cut enthusiastically, leaving you trying to reign it in, instead of trying to force it through the cut.

In the world of jigsaws the Hitachi CJ110MV may not be the finest precision cutting tool (Bosch, in my opinion makes the finest jigsaw) but it is definitely a perfect jobsite or personal saw with more than enough power and accuracy to accomplish some very demanding cuts. It is also stout and very durable. Believe me, on the jobsites where I work, the durability of a tool is tested perpetually and savagely.

In closing, it is the best price out there for a quality jigsaw. You will find it usually about $60 less than comparable professional saws. It does not come with a case, but this really doesn’t dissuade me. I just place it in a compartment of one of the toolboxes on my truck.

Technical specs on the C12LSH

The HitachiC12lsh has an impressive fifteen amp, belt driven motor. It puts out 1,850 of maximum output power and the blade moves at 3,800 rpm (no load) letting easily slice through formidable material with no reluctance at all. Now I know what you’re thinking but this saw should not be compared to the inferior belt-driven dewalt models. This miter saw is in a class of it’s own, leaving other brands choking on saw dust.

It has a maximum cutting width of 12 ¼ inches on a 90 degree miter and 8 5/8 inches on a 45 degree angle.

With the amazingly accurate digital display you can switch from multiple cuts of a specific angle to a single and back without any inconsistency. There is no more guessing when you come across those odd angles on the job; the hitachi c12lsh lets you dial in to the most miniscule angles. With the digital readout these angles can be recorded and reproduced later exactly.

This saw bevels both ways and will cut up to 45 degrees on the bevel. It will miter up to 57 degrees to the right and 46 degrees to the left. It will cut a thickness of 4 3/16 inches on a 90 degree bevel and 2 5/16 inches on a 45 degree bevel.

This versatile and durable saw is definitely the cream of the crop.
